My appointment was measuring me for Compression leggings and he was very patient and kind ,measuring my legs and arms Gave me information leaflets about my condition.

I have Lymphoedema and contacted Pioneer for an assessment. I met with Aaron who proposed a treatment plan of compression wraps and Intermittent Pneumatic Compression therapy. Aaron could not have been more accommodating or informative. He explained everything clearly and gave me a greater understanding of the condition. The pump therapy and wraps have been life changing, and I would not hesitate to use Pioneer again in the future.

After many year’s of feeling embarrassed by my thighs and losing confidence in myself. I caught sight of my legs in the mirror and knew that I had to do something. After looking down the thigh lift route and being told no, as I had Lipodema I then looked at specialist in this field.

I was so happy to find the Pioneer centre near enough to drive to. I was super nervous as I travelled there.  There certainly was no need, as the minute I walked through the doors and was greated by a lovely receptionist who showed me where to go.

I had booked to see Aaron Knowles. He came to get me and made me feel at ease straight away. Aaron let me talk and talk which helped get my nervous energy out.

Aaron explained fully all about Lipodema and told me about all options of caring for this diagnosis. I would be lying if I didn’t feel disappointed that there was no quick fix, however Aaron did recommend two London consultants who could at a cost maybe help me. I have booked an appointment for next week.

Aaron was a true professional in his field and although he could fix it instantly he did recommend the correct compression garments and we spoke about an exercise plate. Again on order from Amazon.

One real thing that I took away from this session was that I wasn’t alone and although I am uncomfortable in my body and in pain that I can live with Lipodema and just need the correct understanding and support of this diagnosis. I walked out of Aaron office feeling more comfortable in my body and I want to thank him for that.

I honestly think that going private was the best thing I done. Yes, its not cheap but it was certainly worth it to get a better understanding without months on the NHS list. Not that this is for everyone and I am not knocking that route however for me this really worked and if I have to cut down for a while then so be it.

Aaron thank you, thank you for being you and giving this lady some hope in feeling more confident. My husband couldn’t wait to hear how this session went and when I told him, that I wanted to put you in my pocket and bring you home with me, he laughed so much.

I was under your care for the last couple of years and would really like to extend my thanks to the clinic and the staff that dealt with me. During my time with you, my specialist nurse picked out a number of other problems that needed attention.

I just wanted to update you on how I’ve been as I imagine people come off your books and you don’t hear anything from them. I’ve changed my life for the better. Attending the gym regularly, built a lot of strength and muscle mass that has really improved my daily living and mental health also. So just a massive thank you to the clinic for helping me get my life back on track after a torrid few years. Too many people are quick to berate the NHS and staff, and not enough people say thank you.

I am writing this on behalf of my 92 year old mother who has been in receipt of excellent support from your Lymphoedema team. For the last year and a half Pioneer has been working tirelessly with the very challenging oedema in my mothers arm and hand. At present, visiting us at home twice a week in an attempt to reduce the size of mums arm and hand. I am pleased to say that this is successful and its probably smaller than at any time during treatment which is purely due to Pioneers dedication and ability to think ‘out of the box’ in how to tackle the difficulties. Mum was about to give up this time after further complications with wounds to her hand that meant that no gloves/sleeves were usable. Mum has not been able to wear normal clothes and most of the time we have had to cut the arms of jumpers/tops just for her to be able to wear anything. Pioneers intervention has meant that mum can now look to enjoy finding something to wear which also has a positive effect on her wellbeing and confidence. Over and above the treatment mum has received, Lymphoedema Consultant, Aaron could not have been more compassionate or professional and will answer any questions with patience and respect. We cannot be more grateful to Aaron and the team for the service that we have received.
